What's the difference?
Stromal Vascular Tissue (SVT)
A concentrate of adipose tissue that is harvested from fat and processed (resized) into small structural components. Adipose SVT is the supporting cellular and matrix infrastructure that supports the adipocytes (parenchymal cells) within adipose tissue. This includes: endothelial cells, fibroblasts, pericytes, mesenchymal cells, leukocytes, and lymphocytes. Adipose is a great source for adult stem cells and though there is a decline in the abilities of these stem cells as we age, science has proven we don’t lose many of them through our lives. Adipose is considered the best autologous tissue source for soft tissue repair and regeneration.
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)
A concentrate of platelets, white cells, and plasma proteins derived from a patient’s whole blood. Blood is centrifuged with an anti-coagulant in order to condense and remove unwanted components like red blood cells and inflammatory leukocytes (neutrophils). This process creates a greater concentration of platelets, monocytes, and growth factors than whole blood with the main purpose of recruiting local repair cells to the injection site. The procedure is often cost effective and has been around for many years with varying success contingent on processing and patient diagnosis.
